Investigation – why do we not become pregnant?

It might take some time before the nagging feeling appears that there must be something wrong. When this feeling comes it's important to get information about the situation as soon as possible.

An investigation of infertility has to have two major aims. The most important is to find out what the possible reasons might be. The second is that these findings shall be analysed, to point out what could be done. An important factor is that this investigation and mapping of possibilities shall not take more time than necessary.

At IVF Öresund we have created an investigation package. The aim is to give a probable explanation of the reason for the infertility situation and together with the couple find possible solutions within one month. The investigation will concentrate on the ovulatory mechanism, sperm production and the possibilities for egg and sperm to meet and thereafter for the embryo to implant in the womb and give rise to a pregnancy. The investigation includes a couple of hormone samplings, a sperm sample at one or several occasions and if needed, a chromosome analysis of both male and female. The anatomy of the uterus and tubes are investigated by ultrasound. These basic investigations are in most couples, enough to conclude on how to treat the infertility. If more sophisticated investigations are needed, we are able to provide these.
